“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.” — Etty Hillesum
There was a moment last week—coffee spilled on my favorite shirt, a last-minute schedule change, and a calendar so full it looked like a cruel joke. I stood in the kitchen, mentally juggling three things I was already late for, and all I could think was: “I need something right now.”
Not a deep breath. Not a walk. Something faster. Something that could calm my mind and ease the tension in my body within minutes.
That’s when I reached for my Copaiba essential oil.
Let’s go back—way back.
Long before essential oils were neatly bottled and labeled, Copaiba resin was used by Indigenous tribes throughout the Amazon basin for nearly everything: wound healing, skin infections, stomach issues, emotional grounding, even ceremonial anointing. This wasn’t a luxury—it was survival.
Traditional healers understood Copaiba’s antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial powers long before science had names for those properties. They used it to treat inflammatory conditions, respiratory issues, urinary tract problems, digestive discomfort, and to help speed up healing of serious wounds. It was also revered as a spiritual protector, often applied during rituals to strengthen energy and connection to the divine.
The fact that we can access this same resin—sustainably sourced and distilled—today still blows my mind.
Modern wellness circles are finally catching up to what ancient healers knew intuitively. Copaiba is widely used in soaps, creams, lotions, and perfumes.
Thanks to its high levels of beta-caryophyllene (BCP), Copaiba works with our endocannabinoid system—the system that helps regulate things like inflammation, mood, pain, and immune response. The BCP in Copaiba binds to CB2 receptors to aid healthy immune and inflammatory responses. It also influences multiple signaling pathways to promote healthy liver, digestive, kidney, heart, and brain function, supporting general well-being. It’s powerful, gentle, and surprisingly versatile.
Here’s how I (and so many others) use it today:
Joint and muscle support: It eases stiffness and inflammation (I use it with AromaTouch and Deep Blue Rub daily—more on that in a sec).
Stress and mood balance: Supports the nervous system during anxious or emotionally charged moments.
Skin health: Combats breakouts and soothes irritated or inflamed skin.
Immune support: Thanks to its antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties.
Respiratory support: Helps open the airways and reduce inflammation when I’m feeling congested or under the weather.
Amplifies other oils: Copaiba is a powerful synergist—making blends with oils like Frankincense, Lavender, or Siberian Fir even more effective.

Use this when you need a fresh emotional start. Uplifting yet deeply centering.
Here’s the truth: Copaiba became my daily essential the day I realized I could support my body before it reached burnout.
One of my favorite ways to use it is part of my morning joint comfort ritual: I mix a few drops of Copaiba with AromaTouch, then massage that blend in with Deep Blue Rub over my knees and shoulders. That combination gives me the relief I need to move into the day without stiffness slowing me down.
When I feel the beginning of a respiratory flare-up, I diffuse Copaiba with Eucalyptus or Tea Tree—a simple blend that supports both mood and airways. It’s a natural respiratory support oil I always have on hand.
And when emotional overwhelm starts creeping in, I place a drop under my tongue or behind my ears. Copaiba brings me back to the moment—calm, collected, and ready to respond instead of react. I also make this Rollerball blend:
This is one of my go-to blends for emotional overwhelm and those “I need to get grounded now” moments.
6 drops Copaiba
6 drops Adaptiv
Fill the rest of a 10mL roller bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil
To Use:
Apply to wrists, neck, chest, or behind ears during stressful moments or before high-anxiety situations (public speaking, travel, overwhelm, etc.).
💡 Pro tip: I keep this one in my purse and nightstand—it’s a non-negotiable part of my emotional support routine.
Copaiba oil for emotional support isn’t just a trend—it’s a tool. It doesn’t just mask stress; it helps process it.
This is the oil I reach for when I feel scattered, overstimulated, or emotionally raw. It supports me in:
Releasing tension, self-doubt, and anxious feelings
Grounding myself emotionally and energetically
Returning to my body and the present moment
Creating a sense of internal safety when the world feels chaotic
Copaiba isn’t a sedative—it’s a stabilizer. A natural oil for emotional grounding and clarity.
Yes! You can totally make bath bombs with Copaiba—and they’re amazing for both relaxation and muscle/joint support.
Ingredients:
1 cup baking soda
½ cup citric acid
½ cup cornstarch
½ cup Epsom salts
2½ tbsp coconut oil (melted)
10 drops Copaiba essential oil
5 drops Lavender or Frankincense (optional for added calm)
Spray bottle of water or witch hazel
Silicone molds or bath bomb molds
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients.
In a separate small bowl, mix melted coconut oil and essential oils.
Slowly combine wet and dry ingredients.
Spritz with water or witch hazel one spray at a time—just enough to allow mixture to hold shape (like damp sand).
Press into molds and let set for 24 hours.
🛁 Drop one in a warm bath and soak for at least 20 minutes. Copaiba will support your skin, muscles, and mood—all at once.
